I am thinking of possibly trading in the Low Rider next year or so and switching to a bagger. I would like some opinion as to characteristics of the different baggers. I like the classic looks of a RK Classic but I also like the look of the street glide which are the two bikes I am considering. In terms of handling and ride, which one has the better of the two? Also, how much difference is there b/w just having a windshield vs. having the fairing up front? What are some pros and cons of each?
Thanks for any input. I realize this may come down to my riding style and such but I think hearing different view points on the two bikes mentioned above through your eyes gives me something to think about that I might not have considered.
IHMO the RKC is classiest bike HD makes no mods needed.
If tunes and hard bags are important to you get a EGC (used low mileage 07 or 08)get a quick disconnect for the tour pak, low profile seat and short windshield from ebay.
I have a SG and added all of the above -- if you ride for any distance you will need it.

Dyna is a work horse if you use as a bagger. But the long ride the dyna will beat you up. So I went with the RG for my second bike. It has the sounds andrides great on the highway. The only thing it dose not come apart like the dyna. The dyna with detachable hardware is great for around the city. The SG are good bikes but that batwing is not the greastest thing on the highway. RK is a good bike soft ride and will come with a clear sheild if you are not to tall it works for some people. I love my Road Gilde that fix shield is the best. Take the demo ride that all the dealer will do this summer. Ride them all. Then see for yourself.
Traded my dyna 2 years ago for a sg. Never looked back.I like the glide around town and on the road the extra size is not bad at all. A buddy has a rkc , we switch up on some road trips and i like his bike to. They handle about the same but the glide is a little more top heavy.
I went from an 04 Dyna to a 06 Road King Classic. Have never regretted the switch. I went with the road king thinking that I would want to take off the shield 50% of the time. To be honest I rarely remove the shield. If I had it over to do I would have went with the Street Glide and got the tunes to go along with the great ride. Either way you go you will love the ride. I have put 14 hours days in the saddle and still wanting to ride the next day.
Definately some good advice here. I have thought about keeping the Dyna once it is paid off, but there is a matter of storage. I am a kook about washing my car and would hate to leave it out in the weather all the time. That is the dilemma of trying to have one bike. I like the RK b/c it would be a great bike around town and cruising, great for longer rides too and the classic lines are sweet. The SG is more of the Bad @$$ of the bunch which appeals also. I have ridden a SG which suprisingly vibrated way more than my dyna does, butit may have been that the motor mounts weren't properly adjusted. We don't have a whole lot of cold or wet weather in Upstate SC so that wouldn't factor in to my decision.
How much of a difference is there b/w the hard bags on the SG and the softer leather wrapped "hard" bags on the RK...storage, usability etc?
