Based on the comments on this thread, I think I am going down the same path. But I have a question, what is the difference between the touring mufflers (64985-07A) and the One Piece mufflers (80490-07 or 80491-07) besides the ability to add different end caps? Is there any difference in sound and/or performance?

There was a thread a while back and the guy said the 7A's were louder... He got the 07's and returned them, and got the 7A's. I have only had 1st hand on the 7A, so I could not tell ya if they were or not. I went with the 7A's and they are perfect for me, and if I want to change the look later, it only cost $40 [sm=smiley20.gif]
Lewd, our bikes are pretty much identical except for paint and a few extra accessories I have. I love my SE s/o's. I bought the black and chrome end caps and they look great. I love the sound. However, I now notice that my right pipe is louder than the left. This has me eyeingV&H true dual headers so I can even out the sound. Trying to avoid that so I don't have to f*k with a fuel manager.
Get ready for loud. I have the V&H true duals with the old style se's and they have more volume than my V&H classic slip on's did. I lost some on upper end and mid range with the se's but up to 3,000 it is stronger. I will say this the se's has the best sound
I got a set of the discontinued SE Performance race mufflers (slash down) 64903-99.
These have been the best sounding & performing mufflers for the money.
A nice deep throaty sound at cruise but really cracks when you twist it.
Some are still on the net for sale.
And by the other thread "(Dyno Bagger #'s)" I can see I get more HP (87) out my 07 SG than others w/ similar set up. Seems the common difference is the pipes used.

There are several versions of the SE slip ons for touring bikes. I have the 80491-07 slash down one piece slip ons.
After 1200 miles I think they sound great. Not as loud as the SE II's I had on my Wide Glide, but they are exactly the sound and performance I wanted. Personally I thought the SE II's were too loud if you rode more than 100 miles. Unless I wore ear plugs my ears would be ringing which isn't good.
There's alot of SE slip on bashing on the forum, but I couldn't be happier.
+1
I had the SE II's on my '05 Road King, with the SE a/c and ECM download. Perfect in every respect.
When I got my '07, I went with the same set up, except I used the 1 piece SE slip-on. Again, perfect in every respect. I guess those boys in Milwaukee know a thing or2 about what makes a Harley run and sound great.
