Default Handlebars

Hello all,

I have an 07' RK FLHR, I bought last year. Seems I am always bent foward a bit to reach the handlebars. I was browsing through the catalog and see they have a reduced reach handlebar (56152-04A). This apparently requires some wiring/clutch/throttle cable changes also.

Has anybody ever doen one of these on their own? If so how difficult is it, and about how much time would it take?

THANKS!

Hello backacha,

I have started it... But am about to put a post ranting about getting a shipment of parts so that I can continue and finish my handlebar modification.

Do a search. Even recently, there are many threads on DIYers that have completed the transformation. Get a service manual. Read and re-read the steps. NAMZ makes wiring extensions. You can go with who you like for any of the rest of it. I, myself, plan to only do the wiring and the handlebar upgrade leaving the stock wires a bit stretched. I will let the dealership do the rest. But then again, that is only the plan today.

Good luck. The wiring part, I have already done while waiting on the rest of the parts to get here. It wasn't too hard. I just laid out a diagram of the colors and where they were plugged in, so that I could extend them and place them back in the right place...

I CHANGED MY R GLIDE BARS TO 517 CHUBBYS. TALK TO JEFF AT NAMZ HE HELPED ME ALOT, HE IS A GREAT GUY. TELL HIM CHARLIE FROM JERESY SAID HI. YOU WILL LUV YOUR BIKE EVEN MORE AFTER YOU CHANGE YOUR BARS. I DID MINE WITH A FRIEND , JUST TAKE YOUR TIME AND READ THE SERVICE MANUAL TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO TAKE EACH CONNECTER APPART. EVERTHING SHOULD COME APART WITH LITTLE EFFORT.
GOOD LUCK
CB
