my Road Glide is done
Started with a few mods to the engine:
Bored to 95 inches by Big Boyz
10.25 SE pistons
Head work by Big Boyz
Compression releases
Andrews 31G cams
S&S gear drives
Baisley oil spring
Rinehart True duals
PClll
Oil Temp gauge
So far I have about 10 miles doing some seat of the pants and laptop tuning and at this point I am happy with what I see. Once I get a few more miles on it I'll be taking it to the dyno to do the final tuning and I will post the results then.
The next task was to deal with the less than ideal radio set up.
Went with:
Sony Xplode 500 watt amp
Blaupunkt 5x7 120 watt 3 way speakers mounted in the lower fairings
Hog Tunes in the fairing
Infinity 55 watt in the tour Pack pods
I-pod mounted in the tank dash
The amp is mounted in the right saddlebag as it's the one I used the least. The harness runs through the inside of the bag though grommets to seal water out. The harness then has two connectors for when I want to remove the bag. One connector is for the power and the other 12 pin connector is for the speaker leads.
Again at this time I am very pleased whit how this works too. About 3 to 4 bars while riding 65 mph and it sounds great. That amp really made the Hog Tune speakers come alive.

How about some detailed pics and description of how you did the speaker mods in the lower Glove boxes?
Anyway I went back out to the garage and snapped a couple of pictures.
What I did was to take some cardboard and mark out some templates. Looking at the attached picture you will see two pieces marked L and R. Those two are the face plates that I cut the hole in for the speaker left and right sides. The one in the middle is the bottom of the "speaker boxes". The face and the bottom were cut from a sheet of 1/4 Plexiglas. The two pieces were fastened together with construction glue and also drilled and tapped for a several6-32 screws for extra strength. I also had a piece made for the inside of the box(side closest to the engine). I seem to have lost that template.
Around the inside of the "boxed" area of the fairing I glued several blocks that were drilled and tapped to fasten the whole works into the fairing. To do this I cut the blocks, drilled, tapped and mounted to the speaker box. I then applied construction adhesive to the blocks and put into place to dry. To strengthen the box to the fairing I drilled two holes through the fairing (where it couldn't be seen very easy) and tapped into the fairing box using two more 6-32 screws. If needed I could then unbolt the speaker box and remove it from the fairing if necessary.
I then finished off the whole speaker box and inside of the fairing in speaker czrpet that I bought on line. That really gave it a finished look. The other picture shows the speaker box mounted in the fairing from the bottom. Hope this all makes sence.
