I had to find out also. Last month I opened up the totally stock 06 Ultra. I was trying to catch the 6 Gold Wings I was riding with that day.
I hit 105 mph on the speedo and 104 mph on the gps.
I was actually surprised it wouldn't do anymore. I last bike I opened up was a 1971 650 Yamaha (in 1972) and was able to get just over a hundred out of that (according to the speedo)
Doesn't help that you're pushing that barndoor fairing. I had an '80 FLT and would pull the fairing off for summer cruising, put a single headlight nacelle on and mpg went from 35 to 42, top speed improved 12 mph(~120 by the speedo). I have lots of fine 2 lane roads here and like running high speeds at times. My present Evo chopper is even faster.
Before I built my 08 RG, rough go to get much past 105, since build, can bury speedo with a handful left in about the same distance it tok to get it up to about 90 stock. Yes, my 08RG has been well past 120... I run mine up over 100 every time I ride, I just like it
Do that in FL and you'll see your bike at the next police auction.........
Was not to worried about that I was on a long stright pice of road in the hill country aside from the car we passed there was not anything for a good 8 or 9 miles.
