I have also ridden a friends GSXR1000, when I hit third gear the front tire came off the ground, when I looked down I was doing 138 mph. I look at it like this, going fast, the adrenaline rush anyways, is like riding a roller coaster at the park, they are fun to get on and ride for about 2 minutes, then it is time to get off and enjoy the rest of the scenery. A few years ago the wife and I pulled out of Sturigs on our way home....decided to head west on the interstate to Sundance, then back south. Riding 2-up on a stock 02 Dyna pulling over 300 lbs in a Bushtec trailer cruising at 105 for a short distance....still had some left. Had my stock 08 Ultra up to 105 with room for more....haven't checked it out with the stage-1 done yet, although I have no real desire to take it much faster than that....I do like the fact that it will get up to 100 in very short order. I don't ride real fast real often, but do like to test it once in awhile.

I thought I saw where Harley has the ECM record your top speed so that they can say that you abused the engine and void your warranty.
