have just purchased and installed brand new set of vance and hines oval slip on's to my 08 roadking classic trouble is the right hand side will not fit all the way and leaves a 2-3mm gap all the paper work say's the are the right ones or have i been had ?
Another note, Use the stock clamps as the one that come with the pipes suck!!! I couldnt get the left side tight enough it still moved so i used the stock ones and good as new!!
I'm sure they are the right ones you just need to lube them up a bit and you can wiggle them up and down and side to side while you are pushing on them and they should go. I always use some dish washing liquid on mine and put some on the end of the headpipe and then take some on the end of my fingers and coat the inside of the muffler good and then start working them on.
Did you put some anti-sieze on the pipes before sliding them on?
Take a 2x4 and a hammer and hit the muffler from the rear to drive it on properly.
They are just slip-ons...........shouldn't be any issues putting them on.
Steve
If there are no issues, then you should not have to "drive" them on with a 2x4 and hammer".
Damage could result to the baffle and/or it would be hell trying to remove them.
Use antiseize and rotate the muffler by hand to put it on.
I would check for any deffects in the muffler inlet.
I had the same problem with a set of stock mufflers I purchased.. tried the 2x4 and hammer as well.. found that the ends were too long and were up against the end of the pipe flange. I used my chop saw and cut off about 1/8" - 1/4 " off the ends of the muffler.. and they slid right on...
