Just like everyone has a different riding style there are different preferences in tires. My one buddy swears for dunlops, while i definately prefer Metzlers. As you need tires after wear, install a different brand until you find what is right for you.
Life is Great....We all Ride!!!!! all on different tires it seems....
For me, lower miles per rear tire is a deal breaker. If I know I am going to get less miles out of the metz I would choose the dunlops. It seems like you always are replacing motorcycle tires anyway.
Ok, I know it's probably been on here before and I know I'll probably get the generic response of whatever you like best...but I have to ask as I'm due for a new set....
Should I go with Metzler's, Avon Venom, or the stock lops?
The other question I ask is that if you respond, please give me you reason why you would go with that brand...
I got 10K+ on the stock lops...still have 3/32 left...but know that ain't much...spend time riding 2 up but also like going solo through the corners...
I had no issues with the way the stock D402's performed on two bikes I've ridden through 33 states in all kinds of weather conditions, but recently switched to Dunlop Elite 3 for the rear in an effort to increase tire mileage. The stock 'Lops were giving me 10k on the rear, which was unacceptable with the amount of riding I do, and the feedback I've read on the E3's has been very good. They were originally designed for Gold Wings to increase tire wear. So far after about 800 miles of riding on dry roads I can report that I have no negatives to report, even flogging the bike on some heavy twisties in the area. Wet performance is supposed to be excellent, but I haven't had the pleasure of testing in the wet yet. I still have the stock D402 in the front and it will stay 'til it wears out in another year or two. They typically last 30-35k for me.
