Just lookin to take some small scratches (floor boards)and some stubborn dark stains (burnt rubber, bugs ??) on my pipes. Haven't bought any chrome cleaners yet. Anything out there that works? Thx.

For burnt rubber and plastic , etc.. on my pipes, I get them hot and then wipe them with a wet soapy rag.

Be careful and don't let your skin come in contact with the hot pipes!

hth,
dave

I have used many chrome polishes. They all require a large amount of rubbing to remove boot burns (rubber). Sometimes all the rubbing can do damage also. So, I use a dab (amount) of HD chrome polish (I found it works best) on the boot burn, let it stand for about five minutes. If it doesn't come right off use a round plastic electrical line connector (they are green, red, black, and yellow) to scrape the edge of the boot burn. It usually pops off, if not, using the edge of the plastic electrical connetor to scrape doesn't do the pipe chrome any harm. Good luck.

Try a product called "Road Rub" available at most MoCo dealers.
Comes in a "tube" that looks like a solid deodorant tube.
It has a cloth material with x-fine slica and a solvent.
Takes boot burns off right away and doesn't seem to harm the HD chrome.

Once chrome is scratched, it's scratched. It won't polish out like paint will, most of the time the area you try to polish out ends up looking larger and worse after you use a polish. As polish will have fine abrasives in it, the abrasives will cause fine scrates on the chrome and the area will look cloudy/dull spot after.
