I use Simple Green on my bile when I clean it, just spray the wheels several times and let'm soak. They come out real clean. The problem is how to polish them. I just bought a Mother's Mini Power Ball with an 8" extention that you put in a drill. This worked great. Out of the box the Power Ball is still too large to work. I also, bought a flat "Rasp File", turned on the drill and used the rasp to reshape the ball to make it more pointed. I was able to polish the rim and most of the spokes (still can't get to the center). I put the wax on with a rag by hand first. I was able to polish thearea where the spokes screw into the rim. Then with just the film of wax on the Power Ball, I polished as much of the rest of the spokes as I could. I had to finish the job by hand with a rag to polish/buff the residue of wax. This is not a perfict solution, but the job took less than half the amount of time it takes by doing it all by hand. I have found that if I can keep a film of wax on the rims and spokes, they will wash off clean when I use Simple Green and the hose. I wax by spokes twice last season and I put on 10k miles and they always were clean (except for the brake dust which will re-appear after 10 miles.

I had 60 spoke wheels on my street bob. when they got dirty i just cleaned them with the soap i was cleaning the rest of the bike with. Simple creen and a sopft bristle brush im sure would work great. I started using that then til I sold her. Now I got billet wheels n pretty much do the same thing. I dont detail my bike often. I just wash it to get the bugs off then ride.
