I am torn. I have almost no inseam, so sitting on a RK is impossible stock. I can manage the Glide with no mods. I have been told that there is a way to lower the RK about 2 inches, and then change the seat. I was also told I could lower the front and back of the Glide an inch without alot of problem, and little cost.
I love the look of the RK, but am starting to lean towards the SG.
What are the opinions out there about the 2 bikes? I know, get what you like, but I like both.
Just looking for input from anyone either in the same or similar situation, or who had the same situation in the past.
Love my Street Bob, just need a better bike for 2 up riding
i had the same problem last year, turned in my softail duece and was debating on RK or SG. went with SG.glad i did, the ferringand radio are a plus over he RK although you can get a detachable ferring for it. i have no complaints on my SG.
I had a fatboy I traded in for the SG. I love the bike- the tunes and wind protection are the best. I did replace the windshield with one a couple inches taller. The RK is great looking but I thing the SG is more comfortable and the tunes make a long ride too short. I hooked up a sirius radio and use the cd player for riding mixes.
Very happy with the SG. I was going to bya RKC and fell for the SG. Very glad I did. Fairing and tunes are awesome and I just love the looks of the SG better. To each his own they are the same bike deep down anyway. Its just what you like and what fits you best.
You know the saying buy what you like, But if you want to buy another bike next year go for the RK. Sorry RK riders just my thoughts. Really like my SG
The SG is an awesome machine. Also, the Road King Custom will put you at the same seat height as the SG, as both are "factory lowered." Production stopped on the RK Custom in 2007, so you'll have to find a used one or maybe a dealer has a "old", new one if you decide to go that route.
It's pretty simple. If you enjoy thewind-in-your-faceride of your Bob then get the RK.
If you want more wind protection plus sounds go with the SG.
5'7" here with 29" inseam so I know of the issues you speak of. A Sundowner seat in both cases will lower you some and will be much more comfortable on either bike then go from there.
