got my 08 roadglide home yesterday. i was going over the owners manual , i know i should be riding but we are under a winter storm warning and suppose to get 8 inches of snow today. i had a question on how the fuel count down works, th e one that tells you how many miles to empty. i could not find anything about it in tha manual, dealer said something about bike has to be moving at 10mph for it to read right. my manual says for 2007 touring not 2008 is there a difference in manuals. dealer was trying to find stuff in it but said things where on different pages than he remembered. anybody got any insite on this?
maybe it's just on the tank-mounted speedometers but on my 08 RKC the low fuel light comes on and "r 40" pops up on the odometer display to indicate 40 miles remaining until empty. pretty accurate - i have about 1 to 1.2 gallons left.
just checked my manual page 45 and 46 deal with the cruise control, the manual that came with the rg says 2007 not 2008 so that could be the difference in manuals
That would probably explain it. My manual hasa picture of an 08 Ultra Classic on the cover with a picture of the 105th Ann logo in the upper left hand corner. Touring Models 2008 Harley-Davidson Owner's Manual on the bottom of the front cover. All 08's should have the same manual.
FUEL RANGE FUNCTION:
The fuel range function shows the approximate mileage available with the amount of fuel left in the fuel tank. 1. With the ignition switch in the ACC or IGNITION position, press function switch until fuel range function is displayed, as indicated by the letter 'r' in the left side of the odometer display. The calculated remaining distance (miles or kilometeres) to empty is displayed, based on the amount of fuel in tank. Range can be accessed at any time using the function switch. 2. When the low fuel warning lamp illuminates, the range feature will automatically be displayed in the odometer unless this automatic pop-up feature is disabled by a press and hold of the function switch while in range display mode. Automatic range pop-up feature will show that it is disabled by blinking twice. Likewise, automatic range pop-up can be reactivated by a press and hold of the function switch. Range will blink once when the automatic pop-up feature is reenabled.
Your description of the manual cover matches my manual, and I have the same text on pages 45 and 46 as you list. Unfortunately I don't know where the function switch is. I don't see anything labeled such on the bike, and I haven't been able to find any diagram depicting the switch in the user manual. Can you describe where it is?
its on the trip odd meter display the one that goes from trip a to trip b and then the oddmeter just push the button untill you get witch display you want. thank norm for the info you are a big help
Thanks, I really appreciate the information; it makes sense. I'm new to the UC and maybe it is common knowledge among previous owners; but, why isn't it mentioned in the Owner's Manual? Perhaps it is; but I haven't been able to find it.
