Just wondering, how difficult is it to remove the outer fairing from an
Electra Glide Standard? or is there anything online with instructions
on how the outer fairing comes off? I have a set of 4in speakers that
I would like to install, but I am not sure how the outer fairing come off
the inner fairing.
Very Simple, 7 torx screws. I do beleive that if you do a search here you will find someone has instructions along with photos. A word of advice, when removing the lower screws be carefull, they will fall into your lower triple tree.
Pick up a couple of sets of torx (include a t27 in there). Get one set of drivers, and one set of sockets. It wouldn't hurt to have a second set of each that are the "security" torx too( think that is what they call the hollow ones).
It's not hard at all. Remove the 3 windshield bolts, 2 from the inner fairing below the speaker openings and 2 between the triple tree. Unplug the headlight and it's off. Do a search i'm sure ther are detailed instuctions w/ pics onthis forum.
A word of advice, when removing the lower screws be carefull, they will fall into your lower triple tree.
Yep, mine has already eaten two. They simply vanished. Since torx heads are not a standard hardware store item, I went to hex heads on the lower screws.
