Is the one in your car (if you have one) any more accurate?

Yes. Always with in a degree or two of what the weather reports are.

The Formotion temp guage I put on my Road King reads 5+ high most of the time.

Do you own an Ultra? You would then realize that 5 degrees would be close enough. I've had my Temp Gauge pegged out when it's in the mid 60's. That is the reason we TALK about it.

You have a wonderful car.
Not an Ultra, if it were I wouldn't have added the aftermarket guage (that was easy to figure out - wasn't it?)
I commend you for TALKING about it. Quietly would be better. And with all the great info here about moving the temp sensor you should have done it already so you wouldn't need to TALK about it so freaking much.
Have you considered switching to decaf?

First thing I wondered when I got my Ultra....was why put an ambient air temp gage
on a bike that has a weather radio?
I will replace the air temp with an oil temp gage. (are they accurate? LOL)

I LOVE my ambient air temperature gauge! Without it, how would I know if I were hot, or cold, or just right? I would probably dress completely inappropriatly for the weather. I would probably put on my chaps and coat and gloves in 90+ degree weather! I Thank god (and the MoCo engineers) every dayfor my Ambient Air Temperature gauge!

Someone forces you to read these threads? Don't like the subject don't read it Rambo. The person who posted the question is new to the forum. After they read it maybe they will fix it.
As for asking you if you own an Ultra. That is what is often referred to a snide remark. You see I didn't need to ask it. It was quite apparent to me that you don't don't have an Ultra and that you don't have a clue just how far off that temp gauge is. See the entire point of an online forum is to TALK about chit like this. If you don't like what we're TALKING about then don't bother opening the thread just to impress us with how bothered you are with the subject.

Have you considered switching to decaf? WTF?

The primary function of that gauge is to fill a hole and balance the look of the dash panel/inner faring!

It shoud read exactly what the air temperature is utside (you can check the weather channel to validate!), but in reality, tells you what the temp is inside your faring.

It's a useles POS HD stuck in there instead of giving us something useful so they can sell the useful stuff (oil temp, compass, etc.) aftermarket!

This post is 100% accurate. The air temp gage is a joke. You would like to think if they are going to use that gage in that hole, make it accurate.
