Default If the bike runs fine why an auto tuner?

I have read all the posts on this topic, so I may be a little slow, but if I'm fairly happy with the way my bike runs what advantage will an auto tuner do for me? I've checked with V&H and they do not have one for a 2001 model, so I'm looking at the Cobra for its simplicity. The others seem a bit step in price. What am I not understanding? If it were not for this forum I would not have this issue bugging me. I DO NOT HAVE AN AUTO TUNER SO I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG!!! You guys are something else. I do not even take care of myself the way I and the rest of you worry aboutour bikes. Every little do dad we need, every little sound, shake and shimmy we worry about, anything to make it look better, run better or just because it is out there we NEED! What is with with us? I may be sick but my bike is healthy!!!! So What Is The Answer? What will I gain?

What will you gain?

Here's a short list.
Horsepower will go up.
MPG should go up.
The bike won't run to lean which means cooler = longer life on the engine.

The newer bikes need one to overcome the factory EPA tune. The rest of us need one to adjust the factory tune because of mods done to the bikes.

You don't really need an auto tuner, you can use something like a PCIII and just download a map.

What do you mean when you say "auto-tuner"? The only auto-tune units that I'm familiar with are the Thundermax and the DTT, not sure if the SERT makes on the fly corrections or not. The Cobra is, or sounds like to me, a copycat DFO. If you're happy with the way the bike runs, leave well enough alone.

Don't get sucked in by this.

This is a rant about people that he thinks spend too much money on their bike.

If he would have really wanted help in deciding on fuel management, he wouldn't have wrapped it with all that other crap.

He has read very little about the subject or he wouldn't be mis-using terms as some have noticed.
