Default TGS and Handlebar Switches

Can anyone tell me how the Twist Grip Sensor Kit (P/N 32310-08) differs from the sensor on a stock FLHR. Harley suggests using this kit when putting on there fat bars for a Roadking. The stock sensor however has a lot of additional wire for longer handlebars so why is the purchase of a new one necessary.

Also I have an 08 FLHR with factory cruise. I’m not to keen on cutting/splicing and soldering the 17 wires or so required for both handlebar switches. So I see in the accessories book that you can purchase a Handlebar Switch Control Kit (70239-07) that has lots of additional wire for such a purpose. But these controls do not have switches for the factory cruise so I was wondering if I could gut the controls – install them into my existing switch control housings an then just worrying about soldering the cruise wires. Does this make sense? Is it doable? Or is soldering all wires the better way to go.

32305-08 (stock) has a little green clip in line. 32310-08 does not contain this clip and is used for internally wired bars, whereas the other one is not supposed to be used for internally wired bars, but some on here have had success with the stock sensor and internal wiring. If you search for this under my name, I have recently posted pics and the tech tip that deals with the two different sensors.

thanks - that makes sense - I actually did get the stock one with all my soldered wires through my wildones bars and it seems to work fine (I say seems to work because in my part of the world there's still snow so I haven't yet gone out for a ride) but I'm allful leary about the tight fit - hence my second point of gutting the extended handlebar switches to use in my stock controls - and then just splicing/soldering the cruise wires.
