Push down slightly on the side closest to the bike and then pull the lid towards you and out. That is assuming you are standing on the outside of the bag when you are trying to open it.

I realize this sounds like a really simple thing to most of us Big Bad Bikers who have been riding for 30 plus years but I've had to show at least a dozen people how to open the bags when they were on the bike. Like mentioned above, it's a bitch off the bike.

Assuming the author has never operated hard bags before, where would we want him to ask this question? Would it not be proper to ask a question like this on a Harley Forum where there were experience riders/owners who could help the guy so he doesn't have to drive to the dealership and ask some mechanic or salesman?

Let's give the guy a break. I'm sure we would appreciate the same the next time we ask a question that somebody may think is stupid.

I bet he is. I like my RKC bags and have seldom gotten the hard bags to open on a demo bike like I knew what I was doing. 8)

Want to bet the seller locked them and didn't send the key?
so if the bottom of the latch doesn't easily lift up and out
they are locked.
Better contact the seller and get the keys.

I gotta tell you wilks - I love when you post. You have the coolest avitar. If you know any girls that look like that & they want to bounce around for my entertainment - send them my way.
That is almost as funny as the guy that wouldn't reset the trip meter on his bike because he thought it would zero the bikes miles. Even funnier he never touched his previous bikes trip meter for the same reason RTFM!
