Ive owned both, 1st bike metric no problems with it at all, now riding a Road King, no problem at all either love it, yes someday I like all the rest of us will eventually have problems motor, wires etc, thee bottom line when there are mechanical parts something will eventually go wrong, but damn, no need to get pi$$ed off just because 1 or 2 items have problems FIX IT, no need to go complaining to others about the make, model or manufacturer
Seems like 80% of the whinning and complaining on this forum comes from about the same 10 or 12 posters. Funny thing is most of you know exactly who I'm talking about,,,,,,but I bet the guilty have no idea.
I couldn't agree more. We should have one forum for the "whiners" and one for you smoke blowers.
If I really did have a problem, where should I post it?
So I'm reading the above thread which has to do with Throttle by wire issues and kept reading how unhappy many of the posters are with Harley. Comments such as...
Electronic Injection Sucks and I'll never own one.
Throttle by wire sucks and I'll never own one.
HD's crank shafts suck.
HD's service dept sucks and won't admit they have a problem.
HD"s customer service sucks.
ETC....
Read the thread yourself and you'll see what I mean. And it's not just this thread. It seams, at least to me, that I read this sort of stuff all the time.
So if you guys really dislike Harley's so much and the company, why the hell do you own one?
I guess I've just been 'stuck on stupid' for so long I don't know nothing else "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand" has been around so long I guess nobody reads it anymore! If some one's not happy with their POS Harley, they should look into one of them Stylish New Visions, and maybe, uhh.... move to... France?
First off I think the Ultra is the best looking touring bike out there. It also takes me back to my youth when I rode twin BSA's and you had to work on them almost as much as riding them. Also you can ride on a modern antique. It is like going to a 50's era cafe. Everything costs more but it is the nostalga you get to soak up that costs.
Some people are NOT HAPPY unless they are bitchin about something. With that being said, I have met some of the HAPPIEST people I know on this Forum.....jus sayin...
united satates of the offended and national association of always complaining people(oops thas naacp, nope never been accused of being member of that).
Some people have to bitch and moan no matter what. Its like chevy guy who ends up with a ford hell never think its worth a ****.My first car was ford (born into chevy family, think its tourcher test) I hated it no power and wasnt a camaro, solution run the hell out of till was crap, didnt take klong and got 66 chevy pickup het it had small block chevy.I put 14 trannys in in year never bitched once I was dumping clutch @5000.My point is if not happy buy the other brand maybe you will not care if it brakes.
Hell the way I ride if bike doesn't brake I get worried,Im rough as hell on anything with a motor and I know it.If your love it youll fix it or get it fixed. If your just here because you want to be cool then any problem will make you loose yours.
If Im going to ride on two wheels with a motor is HARLEY OR MY REDSIGN OF IT only.
Well, in spite of the picture below, I now own a 2008 Ultra Classic. I think it's awesome. I rode to Radcliff and back this weekend and finally got to use the cruise control. How did I ever get along without that? I am a believer in ABS. I've got more storage than I have in the barn (slight exaggeration). I can actually hear the radio. And (here comes the part where I offend some folks) I think it handles a bit better than the FLSTCI. I am not in the habit of keeping any throttle open when turning off the ignition so I have not noticed the problem cited with TBW. So, in a thousand words or less, I'm happy as a pig in mud.
It's ok to love your bike. I know I love mine. It's ok to be loyal and think your Harley is the best bike around. I know that I feel that way about mine.
However, it is also ok to question things about the bike and the Company and want things to be even better than they are now. Don't misunderstand constructive critisism. I'm amazed at the blind loyalty of some.
Harleys have improved incredibly over the past 20 years, and it's not because of people who would, "walk before they'd ride anything else". They improved because many people started buying better quality Japanese bikes during the 70's. Harley woke up and started building better bikes because of those people.
If everyone felt like the guy quotedabove Harleys would still leak oil all over the place andvibrate until your teeth were rattling.
I love Harleys, but I love motorcycles (all motorcycles)in general more.
