Oil in Shocks
I have an 06 Street Glide, and decided to put standard Road King Shocks on. When changing one of the Shocks I placed it on the bench and some of the Oil leaked out. Does anyone know what kind of Oil it is, and how much goes in the Shock. any help would really be appreciated. Also I know some People in the past have asked if the lowered Shocks such as on the Street Glide, give you as good a ride as the standard Shocks on a Road King they don't. I have had six road Kings in the past and the Street Glide with the lowerd shocks do not give you nearly as nice a ride. This is why I decided to change them. However the Street Glide in My personal oppinion handles much better in the twisties than the Road King, I have come to the conclusion the differance is the weight of the fareing on the front.

Rear shocks are sealed. If they are leaking, you have a bad shock. The front struts take motorcycle strut fluid. You will have to check the maintenance manual for the amount.

steveO thanks, but the oil came out of the air fill port. I checked the new shocks that I purchased by puting my finger over the hole and Oil comes out also. Is there Oil in the top peart of the shock for lubrication?
