I went to hit the horn for the first time yesterday and it sounded like there was a sock stuffed in it. I did a thorough visual but cant see anything obvious, any ideas ??
THIS IS YET ANOTHER RECALL!!
I had the same problem with my 05 Ultra. was on road trip to Groton CT and horn sounded very strange. Also very ineffective for I-95. They replaced it right away. I still had the problem and went to local stealer. I was informed that the dealer has to test all grounds and wires, replace if found faulty. I was found faulty on the harness, fixed in about 2 hours and works fine.
another hidden recall from the Hardly dependable company
Ride Safe
I have a 2006 RKC and the horn is pretty loud. I wonder if there are any recalls on cruise control, my local dealer is still trying to get mine to work. They were supposed to bring in a HD rep yesterday to help solve the problem. (I better POST this)
same thing on my '05 RKC.
dealer suggested loosening mount and re-tightening to insure a good ground. worked for me.
Any body tried a loud horn to replace stock? Want to try something to get more flinching from unattentive cage drivers but don't want to go with air horns.
On my 06 SG, at delivery from the dealer he was showing me all the functions, and the horn had that stuffed-sock sound. He said, "Oh, no, not another." Then told me that 3 out of 5 horns don't work properly on new bikes. He also said the replacement horns all have to be tested before being installed, and that MOCO has "notified the supplier" about the problem.
I hated the stock meep meep horn - even when it works its best it still sounds like it belongs on a VW - I just installed the mini-beast II on mine and so far I love it -Very authoritative sound and an easy install - I did not want the twin horn look and this kept me close to stock - A huge improvement - kk
