Default 08 Ultra Questions

Item 1
Anybody have a diagram or instructions to hook the Riding Lights in to the parking light circuit? i want to eliminate the fog light off when high beam is on scenerio. i had it done already on my 04 when i bought it so i don't have the benefit of knowing how it was done.

Item 2
My legs are going to catch fire soon if i don't do something about the heat radiating from the exhaust! My 04 was warm but sunny beaches this is flat HOT! Instead of installing heat deflectors and simply masking the problem, is it feasable to wrap the pipes with the heat wrap used in racing and re-install the Heat shield for a factory look? Anybody done this? I'm thinking it would be a good thing and keep the heat in the pipe and away from my body.

Item 3
Are the 08 Dresser's known for idling a bit unstable?

getting used to the lag off of idle of the fly by wire throttle is taking some getting used to. I'm getting used to it but I find myself dragging the clutch a bit. This bike is hands down superior to the 04 I had in looks ( went all black/ Chromefrom pearl white) Power ( 88 to 96) Handling, ride and gearing.I LOVE the 6 speed on the highway! Once I get the three above resolved life will be good!

Anything else to watch out for?

Good step by step on how to modify fog lamps to be on with high beam.

How would wrapping the pipes be any less "masking the problem" than the heat shields? The engine is still just as hot. If you relly want to cool it down you'll have to spend some money on fuel management.

I bought my '08 in the hottest month of the year and it never got hot enough to make me think my legs were going to catch fire.

Have nothing on item 1 because that does not interest me but othere have done it and might chime in. I don't think i would wrap anything. My 08UC roasted my leg 1 time in traffic and it went into the dealer for the stage 1 with dyno and that problem was solved. No need for shields. I have no lag in the tbw but did have to learn to give more gogo to get off the line with 1st gear being so low. Mine idles steady so it may not be normal for yours to be jumpin.

I have printed out the wiring instructions for item #1 THANKS!

I guess There's a two fold resolution to #2. First, I guess I'll stop riding in shorts [&:]and2nd, I bought some exhaust for the bike. True duals. I'll also let it breathe a bit on the air cleaner and let the engine operate as it should. My impression was that the heat was coming from the exhaust majoritively and was going to remedy the situation by wrapping the exhaust like I do the drag cars. This actually creates better flow throughout the entire system. I'll see how the new exhaust does before I break out the wrap.

Item 3 is in the TBW. I rotate the throttle forward ( cruise control cancel position) at idle and the rpm's stay constant. Either there is too much preload on the throttle return or the actuating sensor ( forgot the actual sensor name) is defective. Don't know if I can adjust it here at the house or if I have to take it in. I don't like taking it in because the stealerships around here (all 5) have proven their incompetance one way or another. I'll buy a service and repair manual for the 08's and do a bit of reading. Until then, I'll change my hand position when stopped.

#2 - My '08 has a Stage I, Reinhart True Duals, Andrews 26A cams and a dyno tune with SERT. A very cool and comfortable 84 hp/93 tq. Before, it was so hot the *** of my jeans would be soaked when I got off of the bike.

#3 - The idle on mine at stop vibrates more than my '05 did, but smooths out as soon as you start moving.

Adding true duals and opening the breather will make it even leaner than it was.. YOU NEED A FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM!
Like a Power Commander 3 or SERT Or anything out there that will richen the fuel mixture up... I installed a PC3 on my 07 SG and it made a Huge difference, No More Heat... and it was so bad I had to pull over and let it cool off... Jamie at FuelMoto will set the map for your application and all
there is to do is install it...

Good Luck..
