Ok. I know that the HD parts and accesories are expensive, but $25 for the replacement bulb on the auxiliary lights of an EGC ? The owners manual has a part number 68351-05, and the bulb is a GE 881 L
Any websites or vendors that any one used before ?
carlosgtn: Better yet change to a much brighter lamp that was originally intended to to be used in aircraft landing lights; The bulb is a GE No. 4509, 13v-100w. They are available from a vendor on e-bay in the motorcycle parts section. As I remember, two of them delivered was about $15. The only draw back is that you have to cut off the aircraft connectors and solder in the common spade connector used by H-D. Made a big difference for me while driving on these long desert highways at night. I made the switch on my Road King Classic after just missing a big coyote one night while running about 80mph. I like them so well that I am contemplating rigging a pair of driving lights on the new Road Glide. ............ BC
Correction: It has been so long since I installed these Halogen bulbs that I forgot what had to be cut and resoldered: The connectors on the bike end have to be cut off and spade connectors installed to connect to the block and screw assembly on the halogen bulb. Simple job that can be done mechanically, but is a much better connection if soldered.
After checking around a bit more, I found the light bulb at advanced auto parts. Its not a Ge 881 but a Sylvania 881, same voltage and watts. They also have a bulb with 10.5 watts more. The price on this baby was only $7.95 compaired to the $25.00 the local HD dealer cuoted me. I guess they are called the stealer for a reason.I think nexttime I will repalce the bulbs with the higher watts ones.
this is why i don't buy anything i don't have to at the stealership!!!!....even with their so-called discounts, points, etc...fkn bs if you ask me...btw does the $25 buld have an HD logo on it?
Your complaining about a $25 light bulb.......didn't your parents teach you that money grows on trees...geez.....what do you want to do??? Eat or something.....What else can you spend $25 on......lmao
