I'mconsidering going with MCC to redo my 2007 SG seat and I have a couple of questions.
What do they recover the seat with, leather, vinly? I couldn't seem to locate anything about this on the website.
What did you guys ship your seat in? When to Costco yesterday looking for a big enough box and found nothing.
Any input as a customer you can offer would be helpful.
Had my Sundowner seat done this winter. Had the memory foam mod along with a 2 inch lower seated height. So far I love it! To answer your questions. They don't "recover" the seat. They pull the stock cover back over the newly contoured and/or padded seat. Can't help you with the box as I still had the one my Sundowner came in. You might check with your dealer to see if they have any empties from previous installs.
Make a call to Allen at MeanCity. I've read nothing but good from other people that have had seat mods done by him. I believe that you can choose the padding and material that you want to use.
It's easy to get hold of him and great to deal with. Great alternative to dropping 500 on a new seat.
Yup, I've heard they do a great job, but I wanted leather so I went to Alligatorbob.com He used a nice Italian leather with some buffalo accents. Nothing too exotic. I, frankly, don't get it. Spend a fortune on a Harley... steel, chrome, and billet, then sit on plastic... it just bugged the daylights out of me.Plus, I don't like the way the vinyl feels when it gets hot out. I had a Corbin on my last bike, but was not thrilled with the seat. I'm hoping to get my bike back this week, and then if I can figure out how to post pictures....
I live about 20 miles from Alligator Bob's place. My only problem with going to AB is I don't want to spend a $1000.00 on a seat and that's probably on the low side. What you did to your seat sounds like something I would like. Do you mind sharing how much it cost and how long it took?
Thanks!

I got my seat back from MeanCity on Thursday. The seat looks like new (of course it only had 96 miles on it before I sent it down). I had the double decker foam installed for rider and passenger. I can't find the receipt but the cost was about $230 plus return shipping. For a shipping container, go to your dealer and ask the parts guy if they have a box in which they received a seat. I rode to work on Friday, about 70 miles round trip, the seat felt great. My wife hasn't yet sat on it: "it's too cold, we'll go for a ride when it warms up", so final assessment is pending the boss's verdict.
