Get the FLHRC you will not be unhappy. If the money were really an issue, you couldn't do it, so just do it and enjoy. I'm on my 6thback surgery. It's the bike for me. Ride safe!
RKC or Ultra? It don't matter. Like said before, get the bike you want. As for taking trips, and looking good, why?
Check out my sig pic. Bike looks like a gypsy wagon going down the road. Ice chest, tent, sleeping bag, rain jacket crammed in there. I may not look cool at the time, but damn, I was having fun. Which ever one you decide, strap your stuff on and ride. I've seen some pics of the RK's and others on trips with the soft luggage attached and packed, they looked good to me.
Like said above, not saying your old, I'm almost 50 myself, I wouldn't let a little more $ get in the way of getting the bike I want. You'll probably see that 3000 miles double if your really enjoying your bike more. I know you can pack alot of crap in and on an Ultra.
WOW!!! You got me going. Since 2003 I bought and sold my Vrod, purchsed a Fatboy 1.5 years ago and I want to switch to a Touring bike. You are correct. Enjoy know while I can.
whats 6,000 bucks if your not happy? my only problem with the rk...is the handle bars...i wish there were back another inch...i will correct that problem as soon as i get around to it....why be miserable, its only money..get out and ride
Get what you want, if you want more creature comforts get an 08 SG or Ultra, abs, cruise and tunes traveleing down the road, hard bags, the works. Either way it's an HD your gonna drop money into it regardless
My 2 cents is get the 08 over a left over 07. Nobody mentioned you also get the 6 gallon tank on the 08. Get the one you want and enjoy the ride. Try sell yours outright and then see what dealer really wants to sell a bike!
Good luck and good health!
