This hasn't happened on my RK Classic nor have I heard this happening on any other bike. Don't know what year your bike is, but if it's under warranty make the dealer fix it.
They'll tell you everything is normal and you'll probably have to fight with them to make it right. If your engine burned a quart every 20 miles, that would be normal too. That is until your warranty expired........
sorry bro, but no issues with mine at all.
I do however saddle soap the heck out of all the leather, just because it is new,
That doc baileys is really good stuff. I wish you well with your problem, and like the others stated, make a big issuse out of it (very diplomaticly) with your dealer and insist you get some warranty coverage.
I'm trying to get ahold of them via phone, but no such luck (must be this time of year). I'm going to take a trip down there later this week and ask them about it.
The bumps and things like that I can understand. I mean its animal hide, its going to have imperfections. What annoys me is when the glue they use to hold it on starts coming off. That doesn't make sense to me.Especially with the amount of money they are getting for these bikes. They should be just about flawless. I don't know, maybe I'm asking too much, but for $20K you figure the HD could use better glue.

For 20K you'd figure they use better everything...not just glue! Of course if they did, none of us would have anything to bitch about.
I have had the same problem with my 2012 Road King Classic.
I took a 2500 mile ride, through San Antonio. After spending a single night there, I noticed bad bubbling in the leather on the lid, and a black gum like substance (the adhesive) had oozed out.
The black substanced stained my jacket that was rolled up in the bag. I began wrapping everything in plastic bags (as I still had almost 2,000 miles left on the ride). Every time we stopped for the night, we had to change the plastic bags out, as they were coated in the black gum.
I've been battling with Harley as they don't want to cover the damage to the bags. It's "not a warranty issue" according to them. The bike is 8 months old, and only had 2,500 miles on it when we left for the trip.
For $20k, one doesn't expect this. The damage is bad enough, but having to battle to cover what is clearly a defect, is just like rubbing salt in an open wound.
Good thing that I purchased the extended warranty. If they treat all warranty work like this, I'm going to have alot of problems.
