Yea, I did mine and it wasn't too bad. The instructions do suck but combined with a little common sense it can be useful. I had the problem lining the holes back up too but I just used my knees and pushed the guard rails until the holes lined up. Now I gotta buy the docking kit for a passenger backrest.
I wish I had access to your directions with pictures when I installed the docking hardware on my 2006 FLHT, it sure would have saved alot of time and frustration. Thanks for sharing.

How many people think these directions should be a sticky so all the new people could benefit from them easier? Seems like the search function is inadequate in this respect.

Anyone second this? or third?
Certainly a sticky in the DIY section would be good. Same as with the docking kit for the passenger back rest. I did mine (sort of) using the supplied instructions but ended up freelancing some of it how I thought it would work best. I'm no ASE certfied mech, but some are even LESS mechanically inclined. Any help is good.
I didn't install it but OMG is it a wonderful thing!
I usually run my E-G Classic without the tourpack for a more sleek look- simply dont need it 98% of the time. But for a road trip Hell Yeah it's on there in about 5 minutes flat.
I use the detachable backrest when I have a passenger - about 30 seconds for that install.
Someday I want to run with a Corbin Classic Solo and a chrome rack over the rear fender so look forward to this option too.
looking for a detach kit toattach to the rider backrest docking hardware I have seen 1 and am trying to find out were to get it I dont like the docking hoops just dont think it is a clean look fir my bike. Any help on finding it would be great
