$90 bucks?????????????Everything I have seen is closer to $160....man that is high!!! Guess thats price ya pay for riding American LOL
If one of your stock ball-and-socket joints has broken, you could do one of two things: (1) Buy two heim joints ($10 each on Ebay) and use the old rod, or (2) buy a nice chrome rod with the heim joints already installed. Some very nice ones are available on Ebay for $40-70, including the joints. Whatever you do, don't replace the broken joint with another stock one, as it too will fail sooner or later--and don't buy a custom linkage with the stock-type joints.
I bought the 2 heim joints for 8.75 ea, cut a SS 5/16" rod for 2.00 and threaded both ends myself. With nuts the whole thing cost less than $20. Aint got fancy designs but works great! Put it on a 5 spd'80 FLT I used to own.
Are both the hiem joints the same thread?? ( both RH or both LH or one of each?)
The ones I put on were both RH threads, it's only necessary to adjust the front one unless you need to go further. If you are really into detail the RH/LH method makes for much finer adjustment, not really necessary IMHO.
Whats interesting, is after doing mine, and talking to a few folks around town seems that everybody has either had this happen or bought a new one to prevent it from happening.
