What do you use to get bug goo off the fairing in between washings? The HD bug remover works well enoughon the lexan windshields, but I do not like to use this on the painted fairing on my '06 FLHXI.
I have yet to find a better solution than to simply get out a bucket and sponge and wash the fairing. This is time consuming and not very efficient for between washing bug goo removal.
Someone on here had posted a tip a while back that works great for me. I just take a soft towell and soak it down with hot water. Lay it on the windshield and fairing for a while and the bugs just about wipe right off.
Really? I have not heard about that one. I will have to give that a try. Did the poster mention how many beers to wait before wiping off the bugs? I would think at least 2-3 would be good.
That is the one downfall to living in "b.f.e" - tons of bugs in the evening. Sounds like riding through rain at times. Well, at least I cant be considered a r.u.b......maybe a m.c.c.b.
The warm\Hot towel works great.... At home I use glass cleaner soaked on the bugs, usually takes a couple applications. Keeping a good coat of wax on the fairing and windshield helps too.
Ya'll do as ya wish. Me, ah'm lazy - ah spray hydrogen peroxide on 'em. They're mostly protein, which HP attacks.....let it sit fer a few minutes, then wipe.
Might have been me who posted that...About 1 beer as long as you don't guzzle it,2 if'n you do. I like to keep one of those hand sized towels you rip off from the hotel in a zip lock bag in the front of the right saddle bag, get it pretty wet but not to the point of dripping. It gets/keeps it pretty warm in there and when I fuel up, put it on the windshield while having a beer and a smoke. Wipe with an up-n-down motion instead of circular to help with scratches (vertical scratches reflectless light than horizontal ones in my opinion) then use a micro cloth to get rid of the water before it dries.
yeah wash cloth with hot water. i just lay it on there of about 10 sec and it comes right off. got pummeled by bugs this weekend front end of the bike looked like a teenagers face working at a mcdonalds.
