Default HID Pics

Saw someone post wanting some photos of the HID headlight so I took some tonight, and with the camera flash, not real good but you should be able to tell the angle and widness of the beam. The first photo is Low and the 2nd is High Beam. Notice the rectangle of light from the HID bulb, it is very concentrated about 15-20 ft. infront of the bike on low and the high beam is very concentrated 30-40 ft. out, hopefully enough time to brake if needed[:-]

Man it seems like yours is tipped down for some reason. Mine on low is way out, and lighting up all the road side signs real bright. And the high beam goes so far down the road its not funny! And I'm going to bring mine up just a tad more too!

I'll assume it's the pictures.... Neither looks as good as the view I get from the stock stuff from the saddle, and the bright looks too focused to be useful....

But, as I said, I imagine it's a picture thing... Not sure how to take a picture that would really show the difference unless you had a deer hanging out there somewhere...

The pics are really bad compared to what it actually looks like. I live in a rather hilly area and these are in a UP slope on my driveway, probably the reason for the low trajectory. I think I do need a little adjustment though, just has been too cold to ride at night since getting it installed to make any major changes. Really like the wide field of view though, worth the bling IMO.

I agree. I have just bought a set of Passing Aux Passing lamps that the bulbs can be changed. Plan on putting PIAA's or SilverStar H-3's into those as well. I never say no to putting more light up front!

I just had the HID installed on my new Street Glide.

Does anyone know what type of bulb the high beam is ? I want to replace it with a whiter one but nobody can tell me if it is H3 or something else ?

Ron

I've got the HID (not installed yet) replacing the dual beam. Would like to get the passing lamps with replacable bulbs. Don't see them in the HHD catalog. Have you got a P/N?

I hit a deer last July at 9:30 AM so I'm all for more light and more light.

I'll check with my Service Manager today and see if he can give me the bulb numbers. It seems I have seen a white bulb in the HD book that runs about $179.00 for RK's, etc..........

I am still considering adding the passing lamps too

Let me tell you the type of monitor your viewing the pictures at the top of this thread makes all the difference in the world. I have a flat 19" LCD at home, and can see everything well. That was what I made my first comments to the post from viewing them. Now at work I have the same manufacture of monitor ViewSonic, but its a 19" CRT (not an LCD). And both of the photos above are hardly anything like what I see at home. Both are very dim and not much of anything visible at all.

So those who are looking at this thread and opting to NOT go for the HID, please keep in mind that what you see is entirely dependent upon your monitor when looking at the pictures attached above!

I'll take a couple more pics tonight on flat ground and without the flash for comparison.
