sert connection advice?

sert connection advice?
Doesanyone have any advice working w/ a sert, i have the connection and want to look at map and how its running, the sert cord is a 9 pin, laptop is not of course.So i assume i would use a usb changeover but i dont want to screw up anything, i'm notto computer literate....Any suggestions.

Save yourself from pulling out your hair. Buy a Belkin brand USB adapter. I know you can find other brands and every now and then they work. Office Max or one of those stores usually have them. Best Buy around here doesn't sell them, just look untill you find one. After that you shouldn't have any problems.
