when i picked up my ElectraGlide Classic and gave it a good going over with my sales guy... i found several things... paint chip on the tour-pak lid, a scuff on the saddlebag guard rail, and a tear on the tou-pak backrest. the service manager told me they would replace the pad and fix the chip, but the scuff didn't meet the minimums to be fixed. he told me that HD has a minimum for things they will fix and that a blemish has to be able to be seen from 3 feet away in order for it to be covered by HD.
i was suprised to hear this. since the price of the bike is so much, it should be perfect in every way.
the dealer fixed all but the scuff which doesn't matter since it covered up now.
Tell them that each scratch is 1K off the price or get you new bike. That happen to me when I took delivery on my SG the Gas tank had a dent and they replace the whole bike.
Join the Club My first Harley and i paid Cash the Bike had some fine scrathes and after a month i noticed some painted missing from the inside of the hard bags.

Like I said, "This sucks". Mine should be ready next week. I only have a down payment on the bike. I will inspect this bike like it has never has been. I will not accept any thing other then "pristine". This will also tell me what kind of dealer Im dealing with.
Make sure its right before you drive it out of the dealership. The first time I cleaned my bike I noticed the wheel had pits in it . It was on the rear and I didnt notice it when I picked it up. It was even pitted under the factory decal on the wheel.. Harley or the dealer would do nothing. Don't take delivery unless its right.

Your dealer sucks! When I took delivery of my 06 Ultra last September my Salesman told me there was a flaw in my Tourpak paint and they had a new one on order, I looked so damn hard at the dealer to find this flaw I was going cross eyed. I finaly found the flaw 2 weeks later when I was using my 2 500 watt lamps while I was detailing the bike, I faound out later that is how my dealers detail man found the flaw. It was a small spider web in the base coat, there were a few other scuffes on the paint that I found and they buffed them out. You would be amazed at what the dealer can make happen if they want to, I would start doing buisness with someone else.
You EG Std guys, need to check out Hawg-Wired. We offer a kit that is a direct plug n' play system with EG's. It uses a much better than stock Sony radio, and even works with your handlebar controls. Nice, neat set up, and a heck of a lot cheaper. PM or email for pricing, and more info if you are interested.
