Sorry to say but the price sounds high to me. I bought an 05 Black Cherry Ultra and had the SE stage II kit installed along with the SE performance mufflers and the diamond cut jugs and I was out the door at $22,900.00. Like the other post said the msrp was right at $20,500. What all was included in your $24,500 price?
I voted for buy it finished. The chrome parts are pretty expensive, unless you hunt them out 1 by 1 on ebay and other sites and try to get a deal. Which takes a lot of time. Time is money. The warranty isn't a bad idea. I have had a couple of peices peel the chrome. On top of that most of the parts you have listed won't bring much on ebay. The used stock chrome replacement market has been flooded with too much inventory. My opinion, Gene

Brian-
The $24,500 is out the door price. There is nothing included. Just MSRP + freight + shipping + alarm + CA. EFI + sales tax + licensing & registration. I agree the price does seem high and I don't want to get screwed either. Check my breakdown on my earlier post, I gave the complete breakdown on the cost. I REALLY want your help on this. After looking at it and adding it up, please tell me whether or not you still think it's high. Consider that $1700 is Sales Tax, then go from there.
I'm not trying to be a jerk but for me I couldn't justify spending close to $30,000 for a production MC - Custom that's another story. Seriously though, take a deep breath and reconsider the amount of money your spending.
You can get a an E-Glide standard for $15,000 and change almost half the price, really for the amount of time your gonna use that scoot I think $30K is off the charts. BTW, re-sale is only good when it's resonable. I think you would be hard pressed long and wide to find someone to pay you that if God forbid you needed to sell in a pinch. I'm old enough to be your Dad so listen to me on this one.[sm=badidea.gif]
At this point, my darkest hour, I should'nt be writing. I have 500 miles on an 06 Road King, go out in the garage and see it torn down like I'm building one. Looks pretty sad! seat, tank, handle bars, cables, brakes, forks, pipes and it looks like a million other things taken off. Parts and bolts everywhere! While waiting for parts, THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE BY NOW, my heart keeps sinking lower and lower. The longer time goes on, your mind starts playing games and you wonder what have I done? Will I ever get it back together? Soooo at this point I would say let them put it all on for you!!! But next week (or year) when its done I'll say do it your self. Experience has taught be the more blood, sweat and tears you have invested in your bike the more it is a part of you. OR maybe I'm just trying to convience myself. Either way, just deceided to write and confuse you more. Let us know what you deceide?
I'm putting lowering springs on the front of my classic. Whats the deal with progressive springs? Are they better? do thay come 1 inch lower?

Standard comes with ALOT less items for the price also. How do you know how much time he's gonna use or not use it? Hell he could put 20k plus miles a year on it.
That's what I like about this forum. You are all very helpful and carefully watching my pocket book so I don't get screwed. Thanks Dad. Seriously, I appreciate it. I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking it's way to high of a price. Initially I was okay with the idea of spending $24,000 out the door. Then I realized, adding the chrome put me at $27,000. By the time I'm done with my Stage 1 kit, (Touring Slip-On Mufflers) and SERT I will come in under $30,000. HOLY CRAP!! I must be insane!
The man is soliciting posts (for opinions) that's what I gave him, just trying to help. What's the point in your post? I think we all know an E-Glide standard has a lot less, come on.
