I got excited for a moment when I read your post, thinking that I could save some $$$ Then it dawned on me, unless the bike is a California bike (meaning that it has the CA. EPA sticker & other emmissions junk) I can't bring the bike in to the state. Only if the bike has 7500 or more can it be registered and titled in the state of CA. AAARGH!! Very frustrating! Thanks for the idea though, I appreciate you sharing it with me.
UPDATE! The dealer informed me yesterday that the bike I ordered is being shipped on March the 3rd. Allowing time for delivery, set-up, prep, etc....I should be able to pick it up March the 9th. Considering that March is right around the corner and that I waited this long anyway, I will not buy the bike on the dealer floor. I will wait for my bike to arrive. By the way, I checked the manufactured date on the bike sitting on my dealer's floor. It read Oct '05 This bike was obviously an early '06 bike. That gives me even more incentive to wait for my bike to come in, knowing that it was built sometime this month (Feb '06). Once the bike arrives, I will go to the dealer and order all the chrome for it and have the dealer install everything. That way I will receive ALL the original parts back AND still get the full 2 year warranty on the chrome accessories.
THomas go to a local MOCO and ask about the chrome exchange I did my whole front end fo 1200 bucks this include cow bells, lower legs, braided cable, calipers, grips, switch boxes and the rear caliper installed. For the SERT, STage 1 kit and new pipes try mandmcycles.com their much cheaper then the dealer. ALso you can dealer install the sert, Stage 1 and pipes.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I will check out the chrome exchange for sure and also mandcycles.com. Anything to save a few bucks. On a slightly different note, I read Bruce's post on the Ultra Build Up and it left me feeling a bit depressed. Holy smokes he said the final cost was about 2.5 Ultra's. So let's see at 20 grand a piece that works out to $50k In one sense I don't feel so bad spending nearly $30k on my bike (with the goodies), on the other hand compared to his, mine...well.....SUCKS!
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this because I didn't read all the post, but I get cards in the mail telling me if I go back to the dealership and buy some chrome they will still do the 2 year warranty.
