i have a sg and wife wants floorboards question is can i use passenger pegs and move them up to make highway pegs. i realise i need additional parts looking for info please thanx in advance.
Yes, you can use the passenger pegs as highway pegs. I just did the exact same thing to my SG. I bought the Streamliner boards for my wife and I now have the original (expensive) passenger pegs to use as highway pegs. There are several different mounts made for mounting the pegs to your engine guard.
In case you're interested, I have a brand new set of mounts available for doing just what you're talking about doing. It's part# 50957-02A (chrome billet engine guard footpeg mounting kit) and the part# 94133-01 (chrome bullet tip footpeg bolt kit). These 2 items go together and are all that you need to mount your passenger pegs as highway pegs. These items can be found on page 610 and 690 of the HD catalog. They are VERY high quality pieces. I have never mounted them on my bike - they are brand new in the box. They list for $102, but you can have them for $75 (including shipping) if you want them.
My dealer told me for a inexspensive solution to use these: http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=harley&ci=3225
He said that all you had to do was un-bolt your stock passanger pegs, and that these would bolt right up.
I put streamliner floorboards in for my wife on my custom and have the pegs that I removed too. I had not even thought of using them for highway pegs until I read this. Looks a good use for them.

I'm selling the mounts because they put the pegs a liitle further forward than I like. I have a 32" inseam and I find that I'm reaching a little too far to hit the pegs. I never actually mounted them, but I can tell just by sitting on the bike and trying to reach the engine guards. These mounts would be perfect for longer-legged riders. Too bad, because these are very nice pieces.
doug: I HAVE THE SAME FEELING WHEN I REACH FORWARD WITH MY FEET SHORT LEG SY NDROME THAT THE ONES YOU HAVE WILL BE TOO FAR FORWARD TO BE COMFORDABLE. THEY ARE VERY NICE MOUNTS I WISH THEY WOULD WORK . THANX JOHN
