How many of you think that the starter just isn't up to the task of starting the 96CI engine?
I bought mine in July 06. Upgraded to 103CI in November 06 when the kit became available. From the first time I started it I thought the starter just wasn't going to make it. Since then its started everytime but it still seems like a struggle.
Sheep, ever had a shovelhead? Now there's struggling starter! My '08 RK turns over at the touch of the button, no strain, no problem. Big inch shouldn't really be a problem, it was worse in the 80's when you went from a low to high compression engine. Make sure the battery has a solid charge, low power makes for a slow starter.

Yeah my old Low Rider shovel. Wow thanks for reminding me. That was a sad starter for sure.

Me, Larry, you! Is there anyone left at the VB&G?............
Now that you mention it, I noticed the same thing although I never spent much thought on it. My machine is still 100% stock and when it is hot from riding an hour or so the starter seems to have a though time getting the engine going after a break.
It works ok but just seems to be hard work.
