Thakns for all the info! I guess I have to make a few educated and informed decsions on this one! Can anyone tell me your experiences with slip on vs. true duals? I know I'll need a power commander most likely...so I'll go the intake route too! Any help would be appreciated. The Street Glide was My return from Iraq present...so I'm having alot of fun with it!

I just installed a Fullsac true dual kit on my 2004 Ultra.
My G/F complained about the engine heat from the right hand side of
the bike.
I bought the kit from a member here, and installed it in about 3 hours.
I have felt no loss of power (I live in FLAT Florida).....and no increase of
noise from the stock mufflers.
I can not say what results you would get with a complete replacement
exhaust system, but the Fullsac kit reduces heat on the right hand side,
with no other side effects (other than the OEM heatshields don't really
cover the exhaust clamps completely). But for the few hundred bucks
you may save.....Fullsac is another option.

I've had a set of Rinehart True Duals on my glide for about three years now and I love them. I lost no power and it actually felt like I gained. I have a SERT and it's been Dyno Tuned so I'm pretty sure I'm getting my money's worth with my 95ci motor.

Well, I'll tell you what... with Dawg weighing in you have your answer! Here is my 2 cents. I first did the SE slip ons with a dyno and SE air; but it just did not do it for me. However, I really did not want a very loud bike. So... Bub 7 TD with the crossover. Bub claims the crossover helps make up the torque loss. I find the sound just right for me. I can simply feather it and it is a nice throaty sound or... hop on it and it barks. Now here is the problem. When I made the change I also did a 107 build so I really don't know how much difference the pipes made from a performance perspective. The bike now runs incredibly well, is not terribly hot and it has great low and mid torque. I am a happy camper!

I just installed Rinehart true duals, Arlen Ness Big Sucker, and PCIII. I haven't had the chance to ride it much, and I haven't had it on the dyno to see what kind of power I'm making. I can tell you that my *** dyno says that the bike is more powerful. I think the bike runs better, and sounds amazing. Gettin' rid of the crossover also helps clean up the side of the bike.

crossover is only in the eyes of abike manufacturer to get better mileage and make the bike sound less noisey to please the "main stream'... Of course we throw themufflers off right away lol..It is a fact, unless you are super performance race dude. crossover can/will help.. anything under 6000 rpm needs no crossover.. just look at main stream carsor trucks in the marketplace, do you see any coverovers.. No absolutely no... only harleys from factory.. some metric bikes.. but very few if any.. i have true dual on my road king. but i kept the crossover look, but deleted crossover internally.. but thats on road king. and only my opinion for what it's worth..

You are not going to notice a lose of bottom end performance when changing from stock to true duals.
If you do it right with an air cleanerand computer upgrade (SERT or PCIII) you will be amazed at who much better your bike runs, (dyno time is worth what it costs).
I've included my dyno chartto show you what a well tuned 96" Harley can do withtrue duals, a big sucker and a SERT and 4 hours of tuning.

Do the true duals really make the bike that much louder? I have V&H Ovals on the bike now. I plan on replacing the brake and clutch cables with Diamondback braided cables (when they're ready for the '08 FLHRs), which will require me to remove the right side pipes. I thought I might as well install some duals at the same time but the Ovals are already loud enough for me (more importantly, for my wife) <G>.

How much louder potato can I expect? I know, loud is subjective but lets try on a scale of 1 to 10... or "I could hear myself fart before I put on the duals, but not now." or "The police siren is barely audible now.".

Thanks
