We have on order a 2006 Road King FLHR/FLHRI, Glacier White Pearl. Salesman says it will be here by the end of March. Last nite at our HOG meeting at the HD shop, the sales man tell me we are making a mistake, we should get the classic. I like both, but my wife and I both really like the Glacier White Pearl, that is why on order. We have seen the black pearl classic and well lets put it this way, SHARP-REAL-SHARP. I would like any comments on which one or why he would say this to me! Is there something I don't know about or what! Thanks, any comments appreciated. I am keeping the 2005 Dyna for my wife, well me too!!!
It's all person preference really. I am a huge fan of the hard bags vs. the leather bags. The locking ability isn't a big deal to me. Locks are just to keep the honest people out. It is a little peace of mind knowing I locked the bags before a trip, and all my stuff will still be with me when I get there. I also like that fact, the hard bags are easier to take care of. The leather ones you have to take off every time you wash them, they scuff real easy etc. One of my buddies talked RK for ages, and ended up with a RKC. He, like I, also ended up buying a set of hard bags for it. I'd say stick with what you have ordered.
This is the same as if you ordered a Chevy and someone tells you its a mistake, buy a Ford .... Its all up to you... Don't let anyone pressure you into their likes and dislikes... Do listen and visit all the bikes you can then make up YOUR mind... They all have their good sides and Not so good sides..
If you want the FLHRI, be sure to order cruise - it's an easy install either by you or by the dealer. I believe security is standard. I personally like the hard bags - but, either would be great! Have a great time - almost riding season here in PA!
Glacier white is a great color choice on the bike you've ordered. Was this the same salesman who sold you the bike? Unless he knows you better than you know yourself he should keep his yap shut and congratulate you on your selection. I have the RK Classic and there have been times that I wish I had the hard bags on it...but only if I had extra cash to cover the whole bike in flames. Since I don't, I'm happy with my choice. However, after I win the Power Ball this weekend I'm going to order one of every bike the MOCO makes.
I opted for the RKC. I just like the looks of the leather bags, tires, wheels, EFI and cruise. Whichever you choose, you'll want the Sundowner seat. It's just better than stock. I'd never have a bike without cruise now that I've had it. But, you can put that on the FLHR. Good Luck. Let us know what you choose and post a pic.
