S-T-I-L-L trying to figure out my stage 1 upgrade (almost convinced on a V&H FP/Slip ons and K&K). Doeos anyone with that or some other configuration also use a Nightrider? I've heard that there are two fuel loops and are each controlled by different means: from what I've been able to ascertain, the Nightrider works at the lower (average riding) throttle positions and the V&H at the more open positions. If so a Nighterider will cool the bike off just fine without the rest of the upgrade BUT I DO want different pipes so I guess I'll do it all. Anyone have experience with all this on a bike??
I do not have experience with the mods that you are talking about but I have been looking at the nightrider O2's. Here is my understanding...... they provide a lower signal to the ECU tricking it into richening up the bike under 3000 RPM's or under 50% throttle, anything over that is where the DFO or whatever you decide to use would kick in. I would sure think that you could add new pipes and air cleaner if you have the IED's installed even without the DFO or whatever you choose as the lean condition will be cured by the IED's. If you decide to go with a super tuner the IED's are not needed as they can accomplish the same thing. Of course without a fuel management setup you will not get the full performance gains.
I ended up with a Super tuner as a personal choice.
I have the Stage 1 upgrade: SE aircleaner, SE slipon touring muffler, and Stage 1 download, with the IED. Seems to work great; but I don't have enough milage to tell if there will be any long term problems. I hope the IED works above 3,000 RPM because that's where I spend most of my time. There is a very long thread elsewhere in the Forum. I don't remember the exact name; but it's related to fuel injection or something similar.
1 thing I realise,,, most of the dyno #'s ,lean conditions, this and that, are all over, 4 thousand rpms...
who the fug rides in that range???
if you do... dont ride with me!!!
I'm stock with slip ons and IED's,,, dont need any more..?
stop reading alll this bul crap!
I contacted the guy at NightRider. I'm sure I pestered the crap out of him, but this is what he says: The XiED works at lower RPM's as well as idle and "parade mode" to keep the engine cooled off by fooling it. It also works at lower RPMs, 3000 or so, to keep engine cooler during acceleration and actually giving more power -_more fuel__ but cuts out at higher speeds. He said I can ad slip ons without doing anything else, which is what I plan to do. So, I am canceling the V&H fuel pack, and SE AC for the Nightrider XiED and slip ons. Does what I want with a BIG savings.
