Is it me or is 6th gear worthless at anything below 75 mph. At around 70 it boggs down to below 2500 rpm. Doesn't hit 3k until around 80mph. And then there is finally a little bit of usable power to pass or whatnot. Did they change the gearing from 07 to 08. From what I remember I could hit 6th at 70 on my 07 RG and still have a little bit of power.
I found 6th gear to be worthless in a strong headwind... Last weekend it was all my bike could do to maintain 75mph in 5th gear into a 30 mph headwind!!!
My 08 runs so much better than my 07 it is no comparisson between the two bikes. I think the IDS on the 08 helps a lot. 65 and over on the slab and 6th. gear is sweet!

MM: Around the Las Vegas area, the freeways are always running at about 80 mph. Of course I'm running in 6th gear on my '08 Road Glide. My engine pulls so strongly that when the traffic bunches up and brings my speed down to around 65, I often forget to downshift to 5th. I just accelerate back up to 80 mph while staying in 6th. My rate of acceleration is very acceptable in 6th. I went from a '05 Road King Classic to the Road Glide. I still have the Road King and when riding it, I am constantly looking for a 6th gear.
I am a real fan of the six speed tranny and the TC-96 engine combination. I may never change anything except the exhaust and the air cleaner. ............. BC
