04 rk custom exhaust

i have an 04 RK custom and it has a stage 2 kit put on it. when i ride and back off the gas it does a lot of popping thru the exhaust. is this what i should expect? does it need retuning? and does it hurt anything?

Check for a leak in the exhaust pipe. Check at the heads and at the junction with the muffler. You are probably getting a little air in and it is helping to ignite the gas in the pipe.

I agree with Rick. Really check where your mufflers meet the slip-ons. A lot of the time no matter how tight you get the clamps they will leak, especially if you used the clamps that came with your aftermarketmufflers. I learned this the hard way but instead of buying OEM clamps like a lot of people would recommend, I just modified mine a little with a grinder in order to make them tighter. It still leaks a little but no more popping. I have heard that if you run it too long in a situation like yours, it could cause damage in the heads, ie burn a piston or something.

I had a similar problem on my 05'. My problem was solved with a SE Race Tuner. You could probably tune out the decel popping with the V&H Fuel pack or the Power Commander as well.
