i think folks are so damn scared to touch thier scoots in fear of some retribution from the moco.
If your hot, take em off. If your cold, leave em on. do what ever you want to do. I dont think you need a shade tree mechanic on a forum to tell you that.
How many of you leave your lowers on all year round. Is there any rules from Harley about leaving them on when it's90+
I just installed my vented lowers about three months ago along with a quick-release kit to remove them with little effort, but at this time I see no reason to remove them this summer. I see adequate ventilation with vents open, good protection for lower legs and boots when summer rains hit, and no issues with engine heat yet.
I installed the quick-release kit also, but I may leave mine on too. Today after riding all day I had a thousand bugs smashed on the lowers. The fairings clean up easy, but if the lower fairings weren't on there, I might have bugs all over my engine and sides of my bike. Needless to say, my jeans would also be covered with dead bugs too!
Here is SW Fla we are heading into rainy season soon. I have vented lowers, and the lowers really protect you from getting soaked. I have them off right now, but also have the quick releases so come rain season, they will probably go back on.
I have the soft lowers havnt used em much, but the paperwork says dont run em when its warmer than 50 or 55 degrees. but again, they aint the same as the hard ones...
I took the adjustable part out yesterday, good compromise. Much more air flow for the Summer but still some windblock there. This will be my first Summer with the scoot, I think it will be fine this way.
I leave them on but don't wear jeans under my chaps.
Dude,WAY too much info!! LMAO
I have taken mine off just to mess around. Not really any difference in heat. The design is such that they are supposed to funnel air into the motor area. When riding slow or stopped, it won't make a difference anyway.
Leave 'em on. If they were meant to come off and on, they would have put 'em on with velcro. LOL
