What is the general consensus in here about fuel additives for fuel injected engines? I used to use an additive on my previously carburated bike but I stopped when I bought my 06 RK that has EFI. It starts great andruns as smooth as an 06 RK is capable of runningso I never messed with an additive. Is one recommended and if so, what does everyone use?
Ah generally jest watch ta make sure ah run a "tier 1" gas as much as possible. It was news ta me a coupla years ago, but you kin find out more about it at:
There are very few tier-1 stations in my area, so I'm going to be following the advice given in another thread here to use the Tecron(sp) additive at least once a year. You should probably only use about a third of a bottle in a full tank on the bike.
Use premium fuel as the MoCo urges, usually as most injected engines the computer will use as much timing as the gas will allow, thus a higher octane fuel will always get the most timing..thus horsepower....An additive of your choice from time to time should help in the water/debris situation inthe system...Seafoam is a good choice...but checking with a Harley dealer for suggestions wouldn't hurt either.
Had to fill up with reg.the other day.Spark knock is what I would call it.In short order stoped at the Auto parts store and put in some Octane Booster. Then all was well..Octane booster was about $16.00 a pint enough for about 3 tanks of gas.Dont want to get hooked on the Boost, could be expensive..
