Default Air Temp Sensor relocating

First of all, I Know the Air Temp Guage is crap, but has anyone tried relocating the sensor to just below the fairing to get into the real air flow?

The 08's are mounted on the neck of the frame just below the fairing on the left side.

Temp gauge....scraped it all togetheroff my Ultra and put in the Hd oil temperature gauge. Found that the oil temperature is much more important and if i stick my head above the windshield my vast knowledge and supreme intelligence can tell me if it's hot or cold. My father or grandfather must have passed that along to me i guess.
