Got the tank Bra and the Fairing Bra the 1rst week I had the bike. Is the tank scatched under it now? Yep, I scratched it with my boot gettin on it before I bought the Bra. Is there more under it now? I don't know, never looked under it since I installed it.
Is the fairing scratched? Yep, car chuncked a rock up on the second day I had the bike, so I got the Fairing Bra. Is there more under it now? I don't know, never looked under it since I installed it.
It's all about preference. I bought mine to ride, not show. I ride in the rain, down dirt/gravel roads in Ark., and other states. I'm a stickler for maint., change my own fluids, do a nut and bolt at least once a month, tire psi every other day, but I ain't much for washin and waxin and polishing. Nothin against those that do, just not my preference.
I think that any minut scratches that would get under the Bras would buff out with good compound anyway, and they may just save a heavy one from happening from a good rock ding or erant boot zipper or eyelet. Just my 2 c.
Sure the instructions suck but when you get it on you realize there was only one way it could have gone on. I bought it for the express purpose of stopping my zipper from scratching my tank. The bra accomplishes that job rather well.
I took the tank bra off my 02 Dyna....had it on for 5 years and never caused a scuff or scratch. It wouldn't fit on my 08 so I had the wife cut the front strap and sew a loop at the end of each strap where she cut it. I run the straps under the tank and up to the neck, then connect them back together using a long nylon cable tie....this way I could pull the front strap as tight as I want it. Mine has never slipped, never needs to be readjusted and is a nice tight fit. I wasn't too worried about jeans, but chaps really raise hell with the paint, and personally I think it looks better than the 3M film....I know, you ALMOST can't see the 3M film....the key word is ALMOST.
