Hey Guys, I have a 03 EG Standard withthe stockcarbeuratorand a stage 1 kit. I was looking at upgrading my carb to something that will give me a little more power and torque. Is anybody running something they would recommend as a upgrade?
For the best all around performance with your stage 1, great fuel economy, and availability of parts, the S&S Super E is the one. Get the carb with air bleeders for more tuning options.
I don't know about more power and torque, but you can get much better throttle response and driveability, and maybe a couple of more MPG.
Mikuni HSR42 Easy Kit, Direct bolt on (unless you have cruise)
It's a flat slide, mechanical linkage carb and provides great throttle response as in instant.
No more spitting back and easy to tune.
Check around, that carb kit runs between 250 and 500 bucks depending where you get it.
why change the carb.?? w/ out MAJOR eng. work the stocker is better than fine. Maybe a sporty needle.. drill out the Air/fuel plug and play w/ the A/f mix..A different carb will bring it's own problems to the show.. Most people can talk stock (cv) but when you go astray your on your own..Put your money somewhere else.
Maybe a True-Track.. the cam is really what you need (gear drive) maybe a 95".. I just did a 95" on a 02 EGS w 510G cams and my bike hauls a$$. How many miles?? maybe time to check/remove the tensioners anyways.. Steve
I have a S&S super E on my old superglide...it starts SO easy. All it takes it the engine to turn over one time. However, I dont think this will give you more power then the stock carb. You would have to go to a bigger displacement engine and a Super G carb to get more power.
