My new 08 Firefighter Special Ultra has arrived at the dealer. Need some advice. I need to know the best lowering shocks to buy. I guess the lower the better without sacrificing that terrific ride.
Thanks for the help/advice.
I got the Profile low touring shocks for my 08 ultra lowered it about 3/4 of an inch. That's the same shocks that come on a street glide. Did not effect ride or control of bike. I think it handles better. If you want to lower it more change the seat. That stock seat is really thick and wide, I got the reach seat and that lowers the ride height by 1.5" I also put a chrome front end on mine and had the front lowered so now the bike fits me perfect.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Harley lowered air shocks. Those shocks ride like a lumber wagon (I had them on my bike for one week)
You want to go for something like 12" Progressive 440's or Works Steel Trackers, in a standard shock (Bitubo's are excellent also) or something like the Platinum Bleed & Feed air adjustable system that gives a superb ride & adjustable height.
I just put the Profile Low touring shocks on my 08 Ultra. It lowered the back about 3/4 of an inch also.
When I ride, it feels like I am riding my 05 Road King Custom instead of an Ultra.
