I noticed yesterday that my rear tire had an inch long crack in one section of the center groove. Tire is about gone but I had wanted to get another 1000 out of it. Where's the best place to get tires?
I buy at American Moto tire and have yet to get one that is manufactured over 6 months ago. They are always fresh and balanced easily, so I'll keep getting them there. A friend of mine found a place about 5 bucks cheaper and wished he hadn't. Tire was manufacture overtwo years back (not a big thing in itself) but it also took over 4 ounces of weight to balance. That was not real impressive, kinda smells of a blem or second to me.
Edit: My local dealer installs my carry in tires for the same labor charge as if you bought from him. 75 bucks and he R&Rs from the bike. 35 bucks if you carry in just the wheel and tire.
Good advice, Last summer I was about 25 miles from home going to get a doughnut from a bakery about 100 miles away, I was waiting for my wife at a truck stop & happened to look at my rear tire & there was about 3, inch to inch & a half long cracks in the groove.
Needless to say I put a new set of tires on as soon as I got home, Better safe than dead.
