Which would you rather experience...shakes at idle or your whole frame vibrating from the counter balance shakes above 75 mph?
I would never own a softail....To each his own.

(in reply to IsurvivedNMU[/align]Well, I have never experienced this "counter balance shake above 75 mph" on any softail and usually check it out up to 105 mph.
You may want to consider building your own. There use to be a myriad of frame choices available. Stretched, swingarmed, softtailed, raked, and made to accomadate any size tire. To further customize there are as many choices of front ends, handle bars, gas tanks, carbs, etc...the list goes on. Check out S&S selection of motors and transmissions as well as Sputhe and STD trannies.
i went from an 04 sporty to an 07 ultra i never noticed a vibration at idle, after i get off work the vibration on the floorboards feels great cuz ma feet kill me when i get off work, lol, its like a foot massage.
you can always switch out the windshield for a Clearview with the recurve...they make them for RK's ..... I have one on my ultra...and it truly has enhanced my riding experience
Harley big twins (less softails) have always shaked. It's a Harley. I'd thinkthe Softail was designed to go after the metric market. Back in the panhead/shovelhead days, rear view mirrors were useless because of the shaking.
