Moby, that was funny, so I'll add, 1400 miles on my RK, no problems yet.
JK, if you have some buds (more than one) who have 40,000 miles on their 96 CI and they have had problems, maybe they're right, I don't know. But, if they're just buds talking out the wrong end of their body, tell them to go out and ride 40K and get back to you with hard data.
I have a good running 06 88"but see no reason why the 96" wouldn't be better.
96" motors don't have those crap cam adjusters and they have a higher volume
oil pump for better motor lubrication and improved lower end oil pick up.
Cool the 96" motor with a good fuel management sys. and you should be good to
go.

I doubt it. Ask your "buds" to be specific, as I've heard of no problems with this engine except rumors of rare cases of crankshaft runout. Mine is getting near 20k and no issues. I think it's the best Big Twin HD has yet produced, and I don't see any weak spots yet after the usual EFI mods and an oil cooler. Properly tuned, the TC96 is the first Big Twin that doesn't require an aftermarket cam swap.
I'm a confessed infrequent low mileage/high number of years motorcyclist. 40,000 on a engine that is less than two model years old?? How many of your bud's have that many miles on their '07's/'08's???
Jack49 is exactly right.
Get rid of the EPA sponsored lean condition, maybe a stage1 or the like.
Should be even better than the 88's and they are a great motor.
Let me guess, the buddies you are talking with don't have a 2007 or 2008. AND THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO HAVE ONE EITHER!! LOL
