Is there anywhere to mount/attach an Ipod that is not on the handlebars and is discreet? Suggestions that don't include traditional applications are appreciated... 2007 FLHX.
Do you have a fairing on that model?
I attach mine with a piece of black velcro and it has worked very well.
I have a volume control switch velcroed to my switch housing and use helmet speakers.
Works for me....
I dont personally use the IPOD although I may in the future... how about if you put it in a windshield bag? I have friends that do this, and they seem to like it, what do you think?
I have an '08 SG. I have the 2 pouch windshield bag. I also have a 2gig Shuffle. I just clip the shuffle onto the cover flap of the right hand pocket. Sits right in the midde of the two pockets while riding...easy to change songs.
Ran a plug wire under the radio, then back up through the fairing. The plug just hang between the two pockets.
And to cover the next objections, don't really need more than 12 hours worth of music before I will be stopping for the night.
I have an unused cell phone case that I can "clip" on the windshield and it hold the IPOD just fine. I run the aux wire in from the bottom of the case into the IPOD. Works great..and I can take it off anytime I am parked. The cell phone case is leather and is the type where it will rotate on your belt..so that belt clip hooked onto the windshield, and I can turn the case so the IPOD drops in.
Hope that idea will work for you. Some forum member was making some chrome thingamajigi that bolted onto the handle bars and he wanted something like $80.00 for it....WTF?????
Put mine in the windshield bags. I also have a silicon cover to give it some bounce in there and a retracting cord so it stays taunt. So far no problems.
Windshield bag and an I jet by Chatterbox. The I jet gives you a wireless remote that allows you to pause, play, stop, adjust volume, and so on with a tiny remote that you can stick just about anywhere. I switch it between bikes real quickly. Your Ipod slips into it and that is all you do. Especially great for bikes without Intercom systems. JMO
Ram mounts have a couple different systems and they also have some mounts you can make up on your own. I have an iPhone that I put in the windshield bag. I ran the aux plug through thefairing and up through the top of the fairing inbetween the bags into the right side bag. but I am looking at making a custom mount from the ram mounts so I dont have to reach in the bag to change tunes.
What I really would like to do is to cut a slot in the fairing and insert and ipod dock connector in the fairing. Apple makes an external remote: Apple iPod Radio Remote. I was thinking about mounting the remote on the handlebar for control.
